It attends to the Formula One race in Bern (Switzerland) and decides to become a pilot too " when he will be tall ".

1957

He participates in his first motorcycle races.

He runs on motorcycles and also begins as passenger in side-car races with the German-speaking Swiss pilot Edgar Strub.

1959

Motorcycle Swiss Champion in the category until 350 cm3.

1960

First racing cars races with one single-seater Stanguellini.

1961

Formula Junior European Champion with one Lotus 18 with the same number of points as the Englishman Tony Maggs.

3rd of the Nürburgring 1000 Km with a Ferrari 330 TRC.

1962

He is committed within Scuderia Filipinetti and competes his first F1 races with one Lotus.

4th overall and victorious in the index of performance in 24 Heures du Mans with a official Porsche.
He win the hill climb of St-Ursanne-Les Rangiers.
14th in the F1 world championship

1967

Official Porsche driver in the Manufacturers World Championship.
5th and victorious in the index of performance in 24 Heures du Mans, he is the first one to shake a bottle of champagne on the podium and so establishes a tradition which continues even today.
11th of the F1 world championship.

Author of five world records of distance with a Porsche 911 R to Monza.

1968

He win the 24 hours of Daytona, the 12 hours of Sébring, 1000 km of Nürburgring and the Austria GP on Porsche.
He win the F1 GP of Great Britain GP to Brands Hatch with a Lotus 49 of the private Racing Team Rob Walker. It is at the same time about the last victory of a private F1 racing team deprived and a first victory of a Swiss driver in F1.
He win the hill climb of St-Ursanne-Les Rangiers. 7th of the F1 world championship.

1969

He win in Brands-Hatch, in Monza, in Spa, in Nürburgring, in Watkins Glen and in Austria on a Porsche 908 and 917 in the world Manufacturers championship.

Victim of a fatal accident on October 24th on the circuit of Brands Hatch during a not counting race race for the F1 world championship.
50'000 people attend his funeral on October 29th in Fribourg. "He was a hero for Switzerland, what was proved when fifty thousand people showed him his attachment by attending its funeral, the most impressive which I saw since those of Churchill", had to write his former boss of Team Rob Walker, in the foreword which he signed in Jacques Deschenaux's book, " Jo Siffert, everything for the race". Jo Siffert was married to Simone Siffert and father of two very young children, Véronique, been born in 1969, and Philippe, born in January 1971.
